Party of Special Things to Do – part 2

So I already posted a list of the gardeny things I want to get done this season. There are also some more house-related or larger garden-related projects I want to get done. THE LIST:

  • Finish gallery wall and add new gallery wall in Ainsley’s room. Some of the prints on her wall now are just placeholders. I also have some more art I want to hang in there, so I want to create another gallery on the small wall where the light switch is, and possibly some sort of something behind the glider as well.

  • Paint the bedroom. I’ve never been crazy about the wall color, which is called Carmelized Onion (as much as we both hate onions, how did we even pick that?). It’s the same color we painted our bedroom in Will’s parents’ basement when we lived there, but it looks different in our house and I’ve just never been happy with it. Whether we pick a real color or just a taupe/greige I’m not sure. It’ll be sort of a pain in the butt room to paint because it’s basically wall-to-wall big, heavy furniture. When we do paint, I’ll likely do a new bedspread (I’m big on switching bedding out and have a few in reserve)…maybe go back to the white one and pull in some colors with pillows I can make. I’ve been thinking of maybe a navy/light blue deal, because it’s a bit different from the other rooms, but still fresh and clean. OK, actually def going with this navy and white – I can switch up the accent colors! Yellow, green, red…imagine the possibilities.

  • Hang TV on wall in bedroom. If it were up to me, we wouldn’t have a TV in the bedroom. But we do. And right now its location is not very aesthetically pleasing. It sits smack in front of the big mirror behind the dresser (it used to be off to the side, but it still covered it up and was ugly).

    totally useful mirror.

We’ve procrastinated on doing this because Will wants to do it right (I agree) and put a wall plug in behind where we want the TV instead of having the cord going up the wall. So we have to get some time to do that, and it’s sort of a pain in the butt. But I have this inspired vision where we mount the TV (and take down the mirror, obv) and then create a sort of gallery around the TV, like the TV is one of the gallery items. I SWEAR I THOUGHT OF THIS BEFORE I SAW IT ON PINTEREST. But I do think I’ll do different colors and shapes of frames this time and not all of white or black. Maybe shades or blue, a few yellow, etc. It would let me bring some fun art into the room that I can change out as I change accent colors or moods. Then so there’s still a mirror in the room (other then the full-length behind the door), I want to…
  • Create a jewelry storage system for the wall with a mirror on the front. I have a vision/plan in my head for it, I just need the right materials and some husband assistance to make it happen. It would live above the small dresser drawer to the left of the giant dresser.
  • New kitchen countertops. We were gifted the money to do this from my parents quite some time ago, and that (along with the sink) is the last thing left in our kitchen revamp. We’ve got it picked out, we just need to do it!
  • Random little jobs we have to finish: paint all of the baseboard from when we installed the floor (right now it’s just primered so you can’t really tell since it’s white, but still), touch up paint in kitchen from painting kitchen cabinets and patching holes
  • Install new closet doors. This is another project that my parents generously gifted us money to do, but we need to secure some time from Will’s dad to help with the manual part. Some of the closets were already door-less because the doors were all jacked up when we moved in, so I just put up curtain rods and we’ve been using curtains as doors for a long time. But with the new floor, the remaining doors had to come out. Honestly, I’d be fine with the curtain situation for a while longer, except for the linen/medicine/coat closets in the hallway. Those being doorless looks pretty ghetto.
  • Tackle some pinterest things for Jennah’s Garden. Like maybe the pallet table? Pallet trellis? Obv this is a husband-involved project.
