I actually had a few things I wanted to try for the Young House Love Pinterest Challenge. But I never got to them last week, and the weekend was kind of crazy pants. So I finally decided to do it while Ainsley was sleeping for a bit and totally effed up the first one I wanted do it. It was just…let’s not talk about it. I’ll try it again later. Maybe.
So then I was all annoyed with myself, and instead did the EASIEST one I think I have pinned because I wanted to do something and wasn’t in a mood for anything complicated. I mean seriously, Ainsley could maybe have done this herself if she wasn’t napping. I already had the pillow, and I have plenty of yards of fabric from the Ainsley Weekly project. This yard was actually one I bought pre-Ainsley to make a pillow out of, and I just never got around to it. And with this method, you can cover a pillow with a yard, then uncover it when you get sick of it and use the fabric for something else.
(I’m not even sure why I did the fancy picture captions, since they’re in the original, too. But whatever.)
I recommend trying with a bit over a yard (maybe even just 1.25 yards) for this size pillow. I think that would make it look neater. Plus, you know, ironing. I think it turned out cute, and I’ll probably do this when we finally redo our room with the navy and white bedding I bought forever ago (I have some red and white polkda dot fabric for Ainsley that I think might be fun). I do recommend pinning the knot if you have a ‘pillow folder’ husband like I do. (I can sleep all night and wake up and just pull the sheets back over and the bed is made. With him, it looks like he had a rave in bed after a tornado came through. I am CONSTANTLY having to refluff the pillows on the couches for the same reason, so they don’t end up in funky shapes. I know. My life is HARD.)
