ThredUp review children’s thrifting online – plus obligatory cute wedding pics.

So a while back, I happened upon ThredUp. I kind of forgot about it, but then was reminded again semi-recently. ThredUP is basically a consignment store for kids online. It’s not like eBay and the like because you just send your stuff in, they deal with all the photos, descriptions, listing, etc – and then after it sells you get moola!

I browsed and found some cute things, but didn’t order. Then they sent me a $10 credit. THEN I happened upon a deal on Totsy where I could get a $20 credit for $10. So that meant that with my two credits, I could get $30 of clothes for $10!

Ainsley happened to be nearing the end of a size and I figured it would be a good time to stock up on what should be her winter sizes (12-18 months). So I checked it out. I browsed in her size for just a bit and was able to find lots of cute stuff! The prices are totally reasonable, the pics are good, and they tell you what brand and size they are. I also like that there’s not SO much stuff there that you can’t look at it all. Since they can only sort so much (but they even have by color!), I kind of like that I can go through a not crazy number of pages and actually see ALL of the size 18 month dresses, for example, they have listed.

So I ended up buying $40 worth of stuff (I only spend $20 because of my credits). Shipping is cheap (like $5, iirc).

Now some obligatory wedding pics from the most convenient wedding EVER (it was at my aunt’s house, which is a few houses down). I even was able to run home and grab A some socks after we sat down at the reception before they announced the wedding party!

Adorableness…

After a sad mishap with the dress I was going to wear (ink or something got all over it in the wash….ALL over it), I treated myself to this red loveliness at Kohl’s. The awesome necklace is Stella and Dot.

Want to get the same dress? Kohl’s shared a coupon code with me! Use code UBLOGTEN for any kohls.com purchase (lots of adorable dresses online…I really like their Lauren Conrad stuff) for an extra 10% off any purchase through October 24! It can be stacked with other discounts, too (I think there is one of their standard 15-20-30% deals going on this week). Thanks, Kohl’s! …I might end up getting that same dress in another color, because it’s an awesome basic that I think I can keep forever!

And her adorable dress from ThredUp! It’s Old Navy and it was like less than $5, I think. And sooooo cute!

See? adorable.

How cute are these wedding favors? All stuff canned by the groom’s mom.

Here’s all of the stuff I got for my $40 (or $20) at ThredUp (puppy paws excluded – sorry for the crap cell pic). I am IN LOVE with the CBGB tee. Everything is great quality and will definitely get worn. The only thing I am a bit meh on is the cheapest thing I got, too – the polkadot onesie at the bottom of the pic. It’s not stained, but it’s the kind of 12 month size that’s short and fat – Ainsley needs a taller one. I may just cut the bottom off and use it as a tee. So: 2 dresses (that black and white one will hopefully be her xmas dress if it fits then), an adorable red coat (she has a red coat in 12 months already that a friend bought, this one is 18 months), 3 tees, 3 onesies, 1 pair of jeans, and 1 pair of leggings. That’s less than $4/item at the $40 total, and less than $2 per item for what I paid! (I think…I’m bad at math.) Amazing.

With every order, they also send you a bag so you can send some of your own stuff in to sell (if you don’t buy, you pay a small deposit to get a bag that is refunded when you sell stuff). I am TOTALLY doing this. I already went through Ainsley’s smaller size stuff and packed up one box for storage, and a bunch of stuff to sell at a local place (like a consignment place, but they just buy it right off you). I got some cash from that, but they only take seasonally appropriate items, so my mom is holding the rest until summer. I figure in the meantime, I’ll give this a try with the sizes I have piled up now to go through. I’ll let you know how that end of things goes after I try it.

If you sign up for ThredUp (they have all kids’ sizes, not just babies!), I would greatly appreciate you using my link. I really need to update my sidebar with all of my affiliate links, but it’s linked above and again below. If you sign up with my link, I get a $10 credit (and sometimes you also get a credit if they are running a special deal).
