I love this house, but I hate it.

Allow me to complain for a bit. So I’ve been thinking this post in my head for a while, and then something happened. A blog I follow, Young House Love, revealed that they’d bought a new house. Ever since they moved into their current one about 3 years ago, I’ve been following along, jealous at all the things they are doing to it to make it their own and awesome and wonderful. Jealous because Sherri doesn’t have to bug John about changing the wall color again, because changing the wall color is LITERALLY their job and what they get paid […]

Making Your Own Laundry Soap for a Year in 20 Minutes for Under $50

…and 15 minutes of that is just grating a bar of soap. I’ve been using this homemade laundry detergent recipe from Raising Colorado for a year and I love it. I even use it on A’s cloth diapers now and it works great. I actually had everything set up and was going to show you how fast it was to make via video. I was going to try to make it EVEN faster by using my blender to break up the soap bc someone had recommended using a food processor. Well, newsflash, blenders are not the same and it was […]

Brick Edgers for the Garden

Just in case it takes me forevvvver to do a full post, I wanted to do a quick post on our new garden edging. First off…LOOK AT HOW BEAUTIFULLLL! (Click for bigger; I’m lazy tonight.) I will share more/better pics later on. Yes, that is still the storm door leaning against the front of the house from the termite debacle. (Sidenote: while placing the rocks during this project, I found termites under them…and I’m scared. They sprayed around the base of the house, so I’m not sure if I should be concerned that they’re a few feet out or not…?) […]

Pinterest Challenge…FAIL? – Sharpie Tie Die

Heyyyy, way to post a bajillion posts in a row, Jennah! I know I know. But things just keep HAPPENING! Right? So anyway. I read Young House Love pretty much daily and am really getting into it with Bower Power. I have done the Pinterest Challenge before (No Sew Pillowcase and Onesie Dress), so here I am again. I scoured my pinboards for something that I thought I could get done in a timely fashion and came up with nadaaa. In the end, I ended up finding a bunch of tutorials for Sharpie tie dye and decided to try that […]

New thrifted table for $17.50!

(Excuse lots of crappy old/cell pics in this here post.) When we moved from Will’s parents’ basement (where we lived for our first year of marriage), we took with us a kitchen table we had been using down there. It was an extra his mom had upstairs that she hadn’t really been using, since it came from Will’s grandmother. It was a good quality table – maple, we think, with fold down sides, solid wood, etc. It did, however, have plenty of blemishes on the top and was that orangey oak stain color that I just haaaated. Our kitchen, as […]
